AI is the one of the major feature of smart industry. It is beneficial to the Industries including corporate in many ways i.e.
– Improves the life cycle of assets / equipment / Machinery
– Reduces the cost of operation and maintenance
– Monitor the conditions & Predict for maintenance
– The system will be in making in decisions in various conditions without manual interventions.
– AI system takes over the jobs from human which are repetitive and standard in nature (e.g. RPA)
Other stuffs I have already mentioned in my previous answer.

It might be easier to state what part of our modern society artificial intelligence (AI) hasn’t touched to show how important it is to our daily lives, business operations and society. Intelligence machines are influencing nearly every facet of our lives to help improve efficiencies and augment our human capabilities.Put simply; artificial intelligence is when machines can learn and make decisions similarly to humans. There are many types of artificial intelligence including machine learning, where instead of being programmed what to think, machines can observe, analyse and learn from data and mistakes just like our human brains can. This technology is influencing consumer products and has led to significant breakthroughs in healthcare and physics as well as altered industries as diverse as manufacturing, finance and retail. In part due to the tremendous amount of data we generate every day and the computing power available, artificial intelligence has exploded in recent years. We might still be years away from generalised AI—when a machine can do anything a human brain can do—, but AI in its current form is still an essential part of our world. AI is so intertwined in all that we do; it’s hard to imagine living life without it.

Its importance lies in making our lives easier;
These machines tend to speed up your tasks and processes along with a guaranteed level of precision and accuracy and therefore this is what makes them a useful and important tool;
The artificial intelligence has made a phenomenal impact in the medical industry and therefore changes the face of the medical industry;
The artificial intelligence has been playing a significant role in managing financial transactions and also to handle numerous other activities in the bank;
From virtual reality games to the modern games which are there today, this is one industry where artificial intelligence has taken the biggest leap.
To understand How Artificial Intelligence actually works, one needs to deep dive into the various sub domains of Artificial Intelligence and and understand how those domains could be applied into the various fields of the industry.
• Machine Learning : It identifies patterns, analyses past data to infer the meaning of these data points to reach a possible conclusion without having to involve human experience.
• Deep Learning : Deep Learning on ML technique. It teaches a machine to process inputs through layers in order to classify, infer and predict the outcome.
• Neural Networks : Neural Networks work on the similar principles as of Human Neural cells.
• Natural Language Processing: Once a machine understands what the user intends to communicate, it responds accordingly.
• Computer Vision : This helps the machine classify and learn from a set of images, to make a better output decision based on previous observations.
• Cognitive Computing : Cognitive computing algorithms try to mimic a human brain by analysing text/speech/images/objects in a manner that a human does and tries to give the desired output.

AI is a central tenet for the disruptive changes of the 4th Industrial Revolution; a revolution that will likely challenge our ideas about what it means to be a human and just might be more transformative than any other industrial revolution we have seen yet.

Artificial Intelligence is a subject of Computer Science aimed at building machines and computers that can enhance logical operations. AI systems have the ability to execute tasks naturally associated with human intelligence, like speech recognition, decision-making, visual perception, and translating languages.

I am trying to explain AI from smart industry point of view in factory environment in simplistic way.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is next stage of Machine Learning (ML). Initially, the System captures the data of critical parameters of the machines / equipment & stores in specific format either on cloud or on in premise system. This data is comprising of historical as well as real-time streaming.
During the specific event or occurrence in the factory, the shop floor operator will take certain action to rectify the event. The AI system has capability to capture such action / decision taken by operator (manual entry or automatic data capture) and store it in memory. This is nothing but machine learning phase. There are specific tools available to develop ML framework on cloud.
Likewise AI system learns to make the decisions in case of occurrence of specific event.
Initially, the system will allow to make decisions under observation as the accuracy of the decisions may not be high but as the system becomes mature, the accuracy goes near to 100%.
Thus over period of time, system will become intelligent & will start making decisions eliminating human interference. This is nothing but AI.
The benefit of AI in factory environment is reduces the Operational & maintenance cost. Improves production efficiency & results in higher productivity & revenue.
