Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) technology combines common data center hardware using locally attached storage resources with intelligent software to create flexible building blocks that replace legacy infrastructure consisting of separate servers, storage networks, and storage arrays.
Converged Infrastructure brought different parts and parcels into a single system that had compute, network and storage to start provisioning with smaller timelines… more agile, single system to look and UI navigation to make complex solutions look simple.
However with HyperConverged infrastructure, these hardware components that make “Converged” are replaced with software components across the stack i.e. network, storage, compute are all software defined that are ready to fit with modern virtualization solutions like containers (hosted or in the cloud), making IT operations more scalable, agile; to top it all, HCI can be built on commodity components instead of proprietary hardware.

Hyperconvergence is an IT framework that combines storage, computing and networking into a single system in an effort to reduce data center complexity and increase scalability.
