I like this question. Let me take a stab at this: In my opinion, digital disruption means the change or transformation that is caused by new/emerging digital technologies and business models. The term disruption is important because of the way the new technologies impact existing products and services in any industry/sector. The impact of technology causes players in any industry to re-evaluate how they do business.
Not to break off on a tangent, I think the speed at which a business re-evaluates and rethinks its business model will determine its future survival in that business. Take Kodak for example, let’s not over-flog their failure to re-evaluate consumer needs or the speed, if indeed they tried. Take Uber and how it disrupted the traditional taxi business model or Airbnb and the impact it has had on traditional hotel and accommodation sector. These are common examples of digital disruptors.
